The growth of urban areas has caused several problems due to the contamination of these urban environments, which makes it necessary to monitor ecosystems, which is extremely costly for the responsible entities. In this way, the use of orbital images combined with geoprocessing technology has become very effective so that the cost of monitoring falls considerably. In this work the hyperion detection capacity was used to determine the level of soil contamination in the surroundings of the Rio-grandense Refinery by the elements Nickel And Vanadium, which in high concentrations can cause several damages to the environment and society around them. Being able to present its spatial distribution and concentration in the soil around the study area, demonstrating that the location of the Refinery demonstrates a problem in the several cities that have been growing in the last decades and its presence in the middle of the city, shows that the authorities are unconcerned with The emissions of these types of contaminants, which has been growing by the burning of fossil fuels and which cause communities in their surroundings to be at risk of suffering damage to their health. It is extremely important for the community that the monitoring of these contaminants is regular and reliable.
